At the completion of the A1 Beginner Level, students are able to talk about most everyday activities in the present, express basic desires, and do simple errands. They are able to read basic sentences relevant to their everyday lives and write simple phrases and sentences.
Students at the completion of the A2 Pre-Intermediate Level are able to talk about everyday activities in the present, past, and future. They are able to read short narratives, directions, and labels, and write simple sentences linked with connectors such as “but”, “and”, and “because”.
Students at the completion of the B1 Intermediate level are able to read short, simple blogs and news stories, identify main ideas and supporting details, and write simple paragraphs on familiar topics.
They are also able to discuss everyday topics in the past and present, give short informative presentations, and understand short lectures on common topics.
B2 Upper Intermediate
Students at the completion of the B2 Upper Intermediate level are able to read short articles, identify implied main ideas and details. They are also able to write on a wide range of topics, as well as compose essays giving reasons to support a point of view.
They are also able to discuss most current topics and talk about future plans, give persuasive presentations, and understand lectures on common topics.
Students at the completion of the C1 Advanced Level are able to read research articles, synthesis different author’s ideas, and write well-structured essays defending a position. They are able to write in a style appropriate to the readers.
They are also able to discuss current topics relevant to their major field of study, persuade others, and understand and discuss most lectures on relevant topics.
Students at the completion of the C2 Proficiency Level are able to research topics in their field of study and write academic essays effectively to persuade others.
They are also able to discuss and defend their point of view, as well as give presentations in their field of study.
